Fennel, Grass, and plants

 Today at MLH (moana learning hub) we went down to Hamanatua Stream, AKA our awa. We call it our awa because it is our stream in our pepeha. Three or four years back room 2 planted some native trees down at Hamanatua. Over the years the plants have grown, due to room 2 and later room 1 cutting down the fennel that grows around the plants and mulching the trees and the plants. It has always been hard work, but you feel a sense of accomplishment when it is done. Recently we have strode to make Hamanatua EVEN BETTER we put down some signs and made some brochures of what we have done. I was assigned to down under the bridge, so the trees and plants up the top are the ones I didn't do. Here are some before and after pictures:

Wondernana reading task.

Today in room 1 I had a reading task to make a advert for a fictional item called a wondernana. I made a powtoon for my advert. This 'wondernana' was supposed to be bigger yellower and tastier than any other banana. This is my powtoon and I hope you like it. Please leave a comment on my work. :D

Athletics👍

Yesterday and the day before we had the school athletics. First we had the sprints, which I didn't participate in because I have to take 6 months off of running sports. The whole of athletics I was a helper at the ball throw, the only sport I was allowed to do. It was so hot, and by the end of every rotation I was really hot and sweaty. The reason I have to take 6 months off of running sports is because the doctor thinks I have something in my ankle called severes, and after running it hurts. So pretty much I am growing too fast and my ankle can't keep up. On my throw in ball throw I got 29 meters and 60 centimeters. Overall I thought it was fun, but really hot.

Smart media

Yesterday koka Maria came in to our class to tell us more about media. We had to do a set of slides with some questions. We also had to make 2 word clouds for an image that represented what we want to show at school and another one on what we wanted to represent at home. See if you can guess which one is which! A surprising visit...

Today we were just peacefully working and just who would show up suddenly but MAYOR MENG FOON HIMSELF!! Now, you are probably wondering WHY the mayor would just show up, so let me explain. Today we were supposed to have an open day at our awa, Hamanatua stream, but we had to cancel it because of the weather. Meng Foon didn't get the email, so he went down anyway. BUT, we weren't there so on the way back he popped in to see where we were. So yeah, That is probably going to be the highlight of the day! please leave a comment :D.

TALENT QUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday at WBS we had the school TALENT QUEST! I had entered with my friend Angus and together we played seven nation army. Angus played the electric guitar and I did the singing. I really enjoy singing songs that I like, and I like quite a lot of songs. we didn't do the entire song because it would take too long, and we needed the talent show to go quite quick. Overall I think we did a pretty good job, and we did our act nicely. We had quite a lot of practises, which was also cool. I have to admit I was quite nervous! :(. but again, I think we did a good job. :D. please leave a comment on my work :D. Check out Angus's blog here.

My awesome speech!

In term 3 room 1 has been busy writing and finishing our speeches. My speech is about banning plastic bags all around the world. For me I thought my speech was really good and caught the listeners attention and kept their attention. I think other people thought my speech was good as well, because I made it into the semi - finals and from the semi - finals to the ACTUAL FINALS!!!! When I heard that I was in the finals it really made my day. AND I was the only boy from year 5 and 6 to get into the finals. So now I have got to do my speech in front of the whole of nui (My syndicate). So please leave a comment and please, WISH ME LUCK!!!!!
