Lockdown free write!

In the lockdown while learning at home we did a free write about the lockdown and how we think of it. I found it hard to put all of the points together. This is my piece of writing: please leave a comment.

The lockdown. It's stripped us of our freedom by keeping us in our neighbourhood at all times. However, it’s for our own good. New Zealand has eliminated the virus. It's working. Unsurprisingly, cases have dropped since the start of the lockdown. It IS working. This isn't all for nothing. We have successfully eliminated community transmission in New Zealand according to David Clark and Jacinda Ardern. So far, it has been the best possible outcome that could have happened to NZ.

I think that Jacinda Ardern has handled this crisis very, very well. She has led us through these unprecedented times very well and even my mum- who is a national supporter- thinks so too. If we hold together and listen to the experts, we can get through this. I know we can. New Zealand is setting an example to other countries, by managing to win the battle against Covid-19. But we still have not won the war. That's a long way off, but we'll get there. Recently, we moved into level two. We have been steadily moving down levels and soon we might be in level one.

It IS working. This isn't all for nothing. By listening to the experts and the government, we have successfully eliminated covid-19 from New Zealand for now, and before we know it, we could be back in glorious level two. kia kaha New Zealand.

Speeches!

Today and in the following weeks MLH will be focusing on writing and sharing speeches! I was in the finals last year but just missed the win. Hopefully I will be able to take it out this year. The topic for speeches is 'Hauora', which is the four parts of our wellbeing. So that covers a LOT of stuff. You can pretty much relate anything to that topic so it will be easy to think of a topic! I have thought about it, and my speech will be about why children should participate in at least 1 sport. I think that because it keeps you active and healthy. It also might change the obesity rates in New Zealand. I haven't started yet but I have lots of ideas for it. It will (hopefully) be AMAZING!!! I hope I win!!! Wish me luck.

Escape from Kraznir

This week and last week in MLH EL4 writing group has been making something called Escape from Kraznir.

It is were you choose two characters from the picture below, and then make up another character. (that character is you BTW).Then you have to make a plan to escape from this evil castle called castle Krill, and then escape the land of Kraznir to get to your home country called Slinsil. You have to make a story were you decide your characters fate, a bit like Dungeons and Dragons if you know that game. BUT, there are some set challenges that you have to do on the way. I have only done one chapter so I am not so far in. But I like this writing task because I really like fantasy. Please leave a comment.

My awesome speech!

In term 3 room 1 has been busy writing and finishing our speeches. My speech is about banning plastic bags all around the world. For me I thought my speech was really good and caught the listeners attention and kept their attention. I think other people thought my speech was good as well, because I made it into the semi - finals and from the semi - finals to the ACTUAL FINALS!!!! When I heard that I was in the finals it really made my day. AND I was the only boy from year 5 and 6 to get into the finals. So now I have got to do my speech in front of the whole of nui (My syndicate). So please leave a comment and please, WISH ME LUCK!!!!!

Holiday slow write.

Today in room 1 we did a slow write about a highlight of our holiday. On the holidays I went to Rotorua with my family, and we went to the luge while we were in Rotorua, so I wrote mine on that. please leave a comment, hope you enjoy.
“I WIN!”
Woohoo!!
I feel like this will be another win for me on the luge!
I felt bright and warm, completely opposite to the weather. I could almost taste the victory
as I zoomed down the track at a gazillion miles per hour.
Could this be any better?
Quickly closing in  from behind was dad and Amelia!

Could I hold them off for long enough?
Although they passed me, they started creeping towards each other, so I had no time to turn away so
I drove right in between them. bang!!!
It all happened as quick as a flash, Amelia skidded to a halt, and me, being the awesome, fun and
competitive person that I am, I raced into the lead.
“Why is it that whenever I pass Amelia, she gets really mad?” I thought.
Soon after the magnificent crash, I pass the finish line first, and I shout “I WIN!”
